”The Scream” is one of Edvard Munch’s most famous pieces, and a central cultural heritage of Norway.

Card: The scream of The Many. Edvard Munch created five different versions of the painting “The Scream”. The piece was conceived after an anxiety attack while walking from a trip to see wildlife in Ekeberg in Oslo. The artist writes about this experience in his diary on January 22nd 1892. The first painting is dated to 1893. “The Scream” was shown for the first time in Berlin in the late fall of 1893, under the title “Despair”.
